A Rearranged Bedroom

After getting drinks with my good friend Corrinne on Tuesday night I came home and couldn't sleep. So, I did what any girl would do: I moved all my bedroom furniture. Perfectly logical, right?

I'm not sure that the new arrangement is better than the old one, but I do like having my bed positioned in the corner between the windows. I left my dresser where it was, but moved my desk to the bed's old spot. (I won't show you a picture of the desk because it is its usual messy self, which I find mildly embarrassing.) I'm thinking that if I keep this arrangement I will get a bookshelf to go next to my bed instead of the bitty bedside table and a wine crate. I am also thinking that this weekend might be the weekend I finally get around to painting the bedroom. Currently pale green is still the leading candidate. What color do you think I should choose?

Bookshelf Room Divider

I spotted this smart (and affordable) way to divide two spaces in an old issue of Martha Stewart Living. Two short, wide bookcases have been stacked on top of one another to separate the rooms shown here. The top bookcase faces in to the dining area and holds dishes. While the bottom case faces in towards the entryway and has been kitted out with sliding doors. Hooks are attached to the back of the top bookcase on the entryway side. If I ever get around to my closet demolition, I think I could create a similar kind of bookshelf divide between the entrance to my apartment and the living space itself. In any case, it’s certainly a clever idea, isn’t it?

Soap Dish Shelf

Remember the soap dish shelf from Martha Stewart Living that I had admired? Well, I went onto eBay and bought myself a porcelain wall hung dish. I installed it over the weekend. Here it is holding my house keys.
